Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 13, 2026  ·  Effective: June 13, 2026

The short version: Hazel Health processes your health data entirely on your device using Apple Intelligence. We don't have servers that store your health information. We can't see your symptoms, cycle data, sleep, or heart rate — because it never leaves your iPhone.

1. Who We Are

Hazel Health, Inc. ("Hazel Health," "we," "us," or "our") operates the Hazel Health iOS application (the "App"). We are committed to protecting the privacy of women who use our App to understand and manage their perimenopause experience.

If you have questions about this policy, contact us at privacy@hazelapp.com.

2. What Data We Collect

Health Data (stays on your device)

Hazel Health reads the following data from Apple HealthKit with your explicit permission:

This data is processed locally on your device by Apple Intelligence. It is never transmitted to Hazel Health servers, third parties, or any remote endpoint. We do not have access to it.

Data You Enter Directly

Symptom logs, notes, and cycle entries you create in the App are stored in your device's local storage (SwiftData) and optionally in your personal iCloud account if you have iCloud Drive enabled. This data is encrypted at rest and in transit by Apple. We do not have access to your iCloud data.

Account and Support Data

If you contact us for support, we collect your email address and the content of your message. We use this only to respond to your inquiry and do not retain it beyond 12 months.

Subscription Data

If you choose to support Hazel Health with a subscription, the transaction is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive only anonymous purchase confirmation tokens from Apple. We do not receive your payment card details, billing address, or Apple ID.

Crash and Diagnostic Data

If you have opted in to share diagnostics with Apple, crash reports may be sent to Apple. We may receive anonymized, aggregated crash data from Apple that contains no personally identifiable information. We use this only to fix bugs.

Analytics

We use Apple's App Store Connect analytics, which provides aggregate, anonymous data about app usage (e.g., total sessions, feature engagement). We cannot identify individual users from this data.

3. How We Use Data

The data we have access to (which, to be clear, does not include your health data) is used exclusively to:

We do not use any data to serve advertising. We do not sell, license, or share any data with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Health Data — A Deeper Explanation

We want to be especially clear about how your health data works because we know how sensitive it is.

When Hazel Health generates your daily card ("Why Am I Like This?"), it uses Apple Intelligence — an on-device AI framework. Your health data is read from HealthKit, processed locally by the model, and the result is displayed on screen. At no point does this data leave your device or pass through our infrastructure.

The Believe Me Report (symptom summary PDF) is generated on your device. When you share it, you are sharing it — we are not. We never see the contents of your report.

The doctor finder feature requires a location search. If you use this feature, your approximate location is used to query a third-party medical directory API. This search is performed in a way that does not link your location to your health data or identity. Exact location coordinates are not stored by Hazel Health.

5. HealthKit-Specific Commitments

In accordance with Apple's HealthKit guidelines and our own commitments:

6. Children's Privacy

Hazel Health is designed for adults aged 35 and over. We do not knowingly collect any information from individuals under 18. If you believe a minor has used our App, please contact us at privacy@hazelapp.com.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

Because we don't store your health data, there is nothing for us to delete. Your locally stored app data (symptoms, logs) can be deleted by deleting the App from your device. Your HealthKit data, which belongs to you and lives in Apple Health, is not affected by deleting Hazel Health.

To delete any support correspondence, email us at privacy@hazelapp.com and we will remove it within 30 days.

8. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights including the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. Because we hold very little, these requests are usually straightforward. Contact us at privacy@hazelapp.com to exercise any right.

For California residents: Hazel Health does not sell personal information as defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

9. Third-Party Services

Hazel Health uses a small number of third-party services:

We do not use advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs that track individuals, or social media integrations.

10. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you through the App and update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
